UEFA names 2 Chelsea in Champions League XI team of the week

The UEFA management on Thursday released the Champions League team of the week list and surprisingly only 3 Premier League players made it to the list.

Top on the list are Chelsea duo Trevoh Chalobah and Reece James, UEFA released the Champions League team in a post via its website following the conclusion of the group stage, match-day five fixtures on Wednesday night.

Chalobah and James made the list alongside Liverpool’s Thiago Alcántara.

Chalobah and James scored in Chelsea’s Champions League 4-0 win over Juventus, while Thiago netted a long-range strike in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Porto.

Below is the UEFA Champions League team of the week after match-day five:

Goalkeeper:
Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid) – 7 points

Defenders:

Reece James (Chelsea) – 14 points

Trevoh Chalobah (Chelsea) – 15 points

Nicolás Otamendi (Benfica) – 14 points

David Alaba (Real Madrid) – 13 points

Pedro Porro (Sporting CP) – 13 points

Midfielders:

Christopher Nkunku (Leipzig) – 14 points

Thiago Alcántara (Liverpool) – 13 points

Pedro Gonçalves (Sporting CP) – 18 points

Emil Forsberg (Leipzig) – 18 points

Forwards:
Edin Džeko (Inter) – 13 points
