According to the reliable Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are ‘prepared to accept’ Bordeaux’s loan offer for Phil Jones before the transfer deadline on Monday.
Everything is sorted between the two clubs and it’s now up to the English defender to green-light the temporary spell.
Fabrizio understands that Bordeaux won’t pay a loan fee but are expected to fulfill Jones’ weekly wages.
After being ruled out of action since January 2020 because of an injury, Phil made a triumphant return to action against Wolves. He was arguably the best player on the pitch in that game, which shows he’s still got it.
However, at United, players like Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly are all fighting for starting spots at the back.
Loaning out the 29-year-old would help him regain match rhythm by getting as many minutes as possible – something that wouldn’t happen at Old Trafford.
