Manchester United have five players whose contracts will expire on June 30, 2022.
That means they could begin talks with new clubs as early as January and even sign a pre-contract agreement.
Here, we take a look at players whose contracts expire next summer and the latest on their futures:
1. Paul Pogba
With Pogba, it’s always been a ‘will-he-won’t-he’ situation but it appears Real Madrid are no longer interested in signing him.
Man United have offered him a new contract but the Frenchman is not expected to decide his future before January.
Meanwhile, the likes of PSG and Juventus remain open to a free transfer.
2. Jesse Lingard
The 29-year-old was linked with a return to West Ham over the summer after impressing on loan. However, the move was scuppered after Jesse felt his ‘heart is in Manchester’.
Nevertheless, he’s yet to make a single Premier League start for us this term, despite scoring twice off the bench.
Lingard could be sold on a cut-price fee in January, with both West Ham and Newcastle interested.
3. Edinson Cavani
Edi appears set for a move to Barcelona after running down his contract at Old Trafford.
He has turned down a transfer to Boca Juniors, as the Catalan giants are on the lookout for a Sergio Aguero replacement.
4. Juan Mata
Mata has played only thrice this term as a substitute and not a single appearance in the Premier League.
The Red Devils are not expected to offer him a new deal and it’s unclear as to which side he could potentially join.
5. Lee Grant
Fans were shocked when the club extended the goalkeeper’s contract by another year in July 2021.
The 38-year-old is not likely to stay beyond this season – although it wouldn’t be a surprise if the club opt to give him an extension.
