Anthony Elanga is a massive talent at Manchester United but the 19-year-old won’t be feeling too good this morning.
It was his penalty miss in the shootout that saw United crash out of the FA Cup at the hands of Championship side, Middlesbrough.
United had so many chances to win the tie in 90 minutes and extra time, registering 30 shots in total.
But Jadon Sancho’s first-half goal was canceled out by Matt Crooks and Ralf Rangnick’s side just couldn’t find the winner.
So it went down to the lottery of spot-kicks.
After 15 successful attempts, it fell to Elanga to keep United in the tie.
But he blazed his effort over as ‘Boro celebrated their underdog victory.
Many United players rushed to Elanga to console him after his miss but he was inconsolable.
But as the teenager was walking off the pitch and down the tunnel, a certain Cristiano Ronaldo made sure to have a few words with him.
Having missed a penalty earlier in the first half, Ronaldo certainly wasn’t blameless in this defeat.
And that’s exactly what he appeared to be telling Elanga as he walked off the pitch, pointing to himself.
