French star N’Golo Kante had a wonderful season with Chelsea as he helped the Blues to their 2nd Champions League title.
The diminutive midfielder had put in Man of the Match performances in all big games and was instrumental in the Premier League too since Thomas Tuchel took over.
As a result of his impressive performances, the footballing community has started the campaign for the Frenchman to win this year’s Ballon d’Or. Here is a look at how some of the influential figures in the football community agree to this campaign;
Here’s what the President of France said about Kante and the prestigious award: “When you see the journey of N’Golo Kanté this season with his club (Chelsea), what he will bring for us I am sure, in this competition (Euro 2020). I hope he gets the Ballon d’Or.”
The Chelsea star is currently representing France in the Euros where he is also having great shifts.
The former Manchester United star told GamblingDeals.com: “If he did [win the Ballon d’Or], I believe he would deserve it. There is no player, not even Cristiano Ronaldo or Messi, that has been a man of the match in both legs of the Champions League semi-final and final.”
Saha added that Kante was a ‘force’ and dominated the midfield.
While on an interview with Eurosport, Paul Pogba said: “What I would like to say to the whole world is that the ‘NG’ we have seen in recent months has always been the same.
“We talk a lot about his performances but he has always been as good as ever.
“There was no Cristiano and Messi in the semi-final, so it’s good to see the performances of the midfielders or even the defenders.
“I said a long time ago that it would be appropriate, if Chelsea won, for him to win the Ballon d’Or. It would be deserved too.”
While Pogba is Kante’s rival at the club level, the Frenchman is Kante’s international teammate and it’s clear to see how highly he rates his friend.
While the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss did not directly come out and say that Kante should win the Ballon D’Or, he made his love for the midfielder and the validity of his claim public on Instagram.
On Instagram, BleacherReport shared an image of Kante holding the Ballon d’Or and it caught Mourinho’s attention.
He just put a ‘❤️’ in the comments – that says it all!
“The Ballon d’Or? He deserves it. You know the criteria as well as I do, it mainly concerns offensive players. When there was a defender or a midfielder, it was because there was no attacking player who had really marked the football year.
“He is one of those driving forces of the France team too, he has a place – it is not in relation to his size by saying that he is small, but he is huge!”
The French boss will be hoping his star player helps his national team win the Euros – that would surely help his claim to win it!
