Barcelona have decided that Ronald Koeman will continue at Camp Nou for now following an emergency meeting, the reliable Catalunya Radio report.
The main reason for it is that the club cannot afford to terminate the coach’s contract due to financial difficulties.
Meanwhile, El Pais report that it would cost the Catalans €12m to terminate Koeman’s contract. The Dutchman’s deal at the club runs until 2022.
Barca are still experiencing financial struggles despite offloading some players and agreeing on pay cuts with others. For example, they still owe Quique Setien €4m, the source adds.
Nevertheless, the club understands that the 58-year-old needs to get back the injured players before they can properly assess the situation.
Before the match against Bayern Munich, there were rumors going around about a possible extension for Koeman. However, the situation seems to have changed drastically now.
